Israel - God, I love 'em. A little country, surrounded by a ton of nations who hate their very existance; and they succeed. It doesn't matter to me that the nations that surround them are 'Muslim' - they could be atheist, Hindu, Protestant, it's not a religious question; although the press and some others would like to make it so. Yes, it is a component, but it's not (in my mind) the bottom line, the bottom line is just a hate of a certain race of people, but let's view the ignorance - the ignorance of both the world and of the countries that surround Israel.
From a story on today's Fox News page, from Lebanon -
"... A young man with blood pouring down his face was shown on Lebanese TV walking out of a damaged apartment building.
"I have huge debts and now my store is damaged," said Fadi Haidar, 36, cleaning away broken glass at his appliances shop, which he said had taken up to $15,000 in damage from the airstrikes.
Still, he supported Hezbollah and its leader, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, in their decision to snatch the soldiers. "Israel is our enemy and every Muslim must make a sacrifice," he said. "As time goes by, they will all realize that Sayyed Nasrallah is right and is working in the interest of Muslims."
Okay, there you have it, stupidity on parade - I'm hurting, my shop got damaged and all because a group of idiots (Hezbollah) run my country. However, I still support the idiots - AND - I'm going to try to make this a religious thing.
Yup, as long as you have terrorists running your country, sooner or later the forces of good get a gut full and hammer the forces of evil. We did it in Afganistan and in Iraq; Israel is doing it to Lebanon and soon Syria will be next.
The U.N. and the E.U. are objecting - like they have anything to do with anything. They are not the ones who are having soldiers kidnapped. I support Israel 120% and I'm certainly not Jewish. I'm just sorry that we are playing patty-cake with what goes on in Iraq, the way Israel is handling it's enemies is the EXACT same way that we should handle things when a soldier gets killed in Iraq or Afganistan.
Your opinion is welcome, but if you disagree I'll argue with you till the cows come home on this one. Israel is right, the boneheads who don't see it that way are wrong - PERIOD!
Oh yeah, the ArchAngel is back ... and with a vengence.
More Later.

Sing it, brother! Pussyfooting around with deadly, dedicated enemies doesn't seem to have worked for us in the past. I guess Israel's main advantages here are that A) survival is a much more immediate issue than here in the U.S., and B) they are not as worried about how the press portrays them, probably because the press and the U.N. already loathe them.
I was thinking about this. If Hezbollah gets those soldiers into Syria and Israel suddenly attacks them, they'd be hurting as bad as Lebanon in a matter of days. So what's Iran gonna do? Fly missiles and planes over Iraq to attack Israel?
Yeah... Good luck!! Kurds and Turks won't let happen! It's the perfect Middle East scenario with all kinds of US War Machines lock, loaded and ready to sit in the desert and pacify Iraq and wait for this situation. I think this was the "master plan" when we went into Iraq but suprisingly no one is saying it. Put a friendly country between Iran and Israel and no one can do anything. Israel can totally handle Hezbollah and Syria on their own while Iran can do nothing but maybe smuggle some shoulder rockets and suicide bombers. Good luck with that!!!
Good to hear from you! The only thing that will stop Israel from doing it right this time (remember, they had Arafat with his back to the sea in Beirut in the '80s)will be if Ohlmert capitulates to "world (UN) pressure" again.
We, as Americans, must not let this happen! We MUST support our only true friend in the Middle East!
Glad you're back, Michael.
You'll get no argument from me about the Israeli situation, except that I believe the religious component is more dominant than you think it is.
Israel has lived in this environment for decades, and every time some stupid Muslims have rattled their sabers Israel has bloodied their nose. Not much question that they'll prevail again.
If Hezbollah really peeves the Israelis, look out ... they will level the appropriate parts of Lebanon.
Hey look... Israel attacks it's real enemy:
